Meet your Yoga Guru

I am Yogi Chauhan - a professionally qualified Yoga, Fitness and Martial Arts instructor with over 15 years of experience of working with people from all walks of life.

As a die-hard fitness freak, I live to stay healthy and share my knowledge and experience with everyone who connects with me. Over the years I have worked with hundreds of people at all fitness levels, helping them achieve their health goals. There is a lot more to good health than just physical fitness, we also need to be at peace on the inside. Our classes at Yoga with Yogi have been carefully designed to provide the right balance of physical fitness and spiritual strength. I am fully committed to every student, every class we conduct and nothing makes me happier than setting people up to follow the path to holistic good health in their lives.

Meet your Yoga Guru

I grew up in India so Yoga was never a foreign concept. I have “played” with Yoga nearly all my life, and was introduced to it at the age of 5 or 6 by my grandfather and uncle. At the age of around 14 years I started doing my regular Japa meditation (Chanting of sacred Mantras). To me anything you do with complete awareness is yoga. I focus more on Dhyana (Meditation) which is the Seventh limb of eight limbs of Yoga. I believe the main purpose of physical asanas and other limbs of yoga is to prepare one’s body and mind for meditation because it is the last step before Samadhi (realization of oneness with all - liberation/Moksha). It is very limiting just to focus on Asanas (physical postures) in our yoga practice.

I gave up my full time job in 2004 to follow my heart and passion. I graduated from Nature Care college with Diploma in Yoga teacher training. I have been teaching yoga full time since 2006/7. And not a day goes by where I don’t thank God for guiding me to this wonderful path of Yoga (Union). When I teach I do my best to let my students know that “turning ourselves into a pretzel is not going to make us any more happy than we already are” but if we learn to live in this eternal now, we’ll experience the joy and peace ever present in this present moment. For those looking for more physical action, I am also a qualified PT and a Pilates and martial arts instructor. If you are into fitness of any kind, let's talk.
